The Coachella Valley Sand Blasters Chorus

Organized in 1978, sponsored by The Pomona Chapter, we are a small, 'social' chapter (from 12 to 36 members, depending upon the season and health of members) which does not compete. Because of the extreme heat of our summers here at our low, low desert, about 1/3 of our members are 'Snow birds' which means that in May when our district competiton is scheduled, we no longer have a balanced chorus or complete quartets. We are dark during July and August. We sing every Tuesday evening September through June unless it falls on Christmas, Christmas eve, etc. We meet from 7PM - 9:30 PM at the 'Hacienda' assisted living facility located in Palm Desert, 1 1/2 blocks north of Highway 111 (the main intersection of Palm Desert). We often meet for pizza at an afterglow for 1/2 to 3/4 hour. The SPIRIT OF PHOENIX is the primary performing group of the Greater Phoenix Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, and has been an institution in the Phoenix, Arizona (USA) area for over sixty years. The chorus has performed throughout the United States and Canada, and travelled to the United Kingdom in 1999 for a special performance headlining the 25th Jubilee Anniversary of the BritishAssociationOfBarbershopSingers? , one of the Society's affiliate organizations.
